‘Tequila’ – Tequila Fishing Charters

Discover your one-of-a-kind fishing experience on the fishing vessel Tequila, while taking in the spectacular surroundings of Foveaux Strait and Stewart Island.

The wooden F.V. Tequila is 11.38m long, built by Miller & Tunnage in Dunedin and launched in 1992. It is surveyed to carry 12 passengers plus 2 crew. Skipper Anthony O’Rourke ‘Chook’, has extensive local knowledge and over 25 years experience in commercial fishing.

Tequila departs Halfmoon Bay in the mornings and afternoons for a 4-hour fishing trip with wet weather gear, gumboots and hand lines provided.

Chook will demonstrate how to prepare, set and retrieve Cod Pots and how to process the catch once landed (i.e. sorting, filleting). Using traditional hand lines, you will be able to catch your own Blue Cod to take home.

There is a great variety of wildlife living in and around the waters of Stewart Island. Chook and his crew are more than happy to stop and and give you a closer look if you see anything interesting during the trip – so just ask!
